BEAUMONT, Texas – Southeast Texas non-profit organizations recently received $55,000 in community outreach grants from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Downtown Beaumont. The grants would usually have been presented at a special ceremony at the downtown church, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, was not able to happen this year. The grants are given annually from the proceeds generated by St. Mark’s Chili Supper and Bazaar and their resale store, the Treasure House. In the last eleven years, St. Mark’s has been able to give a total of $490,640 in grants.
Organizations that received grants are: All Saints Episcopal School Scholarship Fund, Beaumont Community Partnership for Children, Buckner Children & Family Services, CASA, Henry’s Place, HOW Center, Matityahu Homeless Ministries, Nutrition & Services for Seniors, Rape & Suicide Crisis Center of Southeast Texas, RISE Center for Independent Living, Samaritan Counseling Center, Salvation Army, SMORE for Women, Some Other Place, Southeast Texas Food Bank, Southeast Texas Hospice – Orange, Stable Spirit, Surviving Parents of Southeast Texas, United Board of Missions-Mid County; as well as St. Mark’s own Friday Morning Ministry, Pantry Fund, and Emergency Outreach Fund.
“This year, perhaps more than any in our history of giving, the funding provided is most critical for the ongoing mission of these organizations. We are grateful for the generosity of Southeast Texans and their continued support of our Treasure House resale store and our annual Chili Supper, which enable us to give back to the community and support so many worthwhile endeavors”, said The Rev’d Dr. Tony Clark, Rector of St. Mark’s.
