The annual Blessing of the Pets was a joyful success! Our beloved animals filled churches across the diocese, bringing smiles, laughter, and gratitude for God’s creation. Many of our church’s congregations were even featured in the news!
“Gift of God’s Creation”: St. Cyprian’s, Lufkin Featured in the News
St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church in Lufkin was highlighted for its much-loved annual Blessing of the Animals. Each year, parishioners and visitors gather on the church grounds to celebrate God’s creation, receiving blessings for their cherished pets from the clergy. Before offering each blessing, the priest meets with families and presents a St. Francis medal as a keepsake.
The celebration also inspires meaningful conversations about how pets reflect God’s unconditional love and remind us to care faithfully for all of creation. Attendees donated pet food to the local animal shelter as part of the event.
