The 65th Annual Diocesan Choral Festival

Presented by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas Diocesan Music Commission

Sunday, November 16, 2025 – Christ Church Cathedral, Houston

The Diocese of Texas invites all singers to join in the 65th Annual Diocesan Choral Festival, led this year by Dr. Anthony Maglione, Director of Choral Studies at the University of Houston and Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus.

Schedule

  • 3:00 p.m. – Arrival and greetings
  • 3:15–5:45 p.m. – Festival rehearsal
  • 6:00 p.m. – Choral Compline, followed by a reception

Repertoire

The service will feature a Choral Compline with two anthems:

  • Nunc Dimittis in C – C.V. Stanford
  • If Ye Love Me – Philip Wilby
  • The Day Draws On With Golden Light – Edward Bairstow

All singers are welcome. Participants are asked to prepare music in advance, as there will be no sectional rehearsals.

About the Festival Conductor

Dr. Anthony Maglione serves as Director of Choral Studies at the University of Houston and Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus. A nationally recognized conductor, composer, and tenor, his work has been featured at national conferences, on commercial recordings, and in major performance venues across the country. He previously taught at William Jewell College, where his ensembles received national acclaim, and served as Choirmaster at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City. His compositions are widely published and performed, and he is a sought-after clinician and guest conductor throughout the United States.
